There are not a lot of bands I can remember off the top of my head who I have listened to. I do remember The Jimmy and Tommy Dorsey Bands, Duke Ellington, and Louie Armstrong Bands. The Dorsey Brothers music was in several movies.
I heard Duke Ellington and Louie Armstrong on some movies, but mostly on the radio stations. Later, Barry White, Issac Hayes, Grover Washington, Jr., and George Benson also had their own bands.
I have always loved music. I draw the line at rap, punk rock, and hard rock. Music whether it’s a big band or other type should always leave you with a sense of well-being and I don’t get that from rap, punk or hard rock music.
The great thing that music does for me, is that it transports me to a time when I first heard the song or music and I can re-live the memories as if I was in that time again. Or it places me in a story my mind creates at that moment and it is as real as if it actually happened and I was there to be a part of what is taking place.
If you have not experienced that, then go somewhere in a quiet place where no one will interrupt you and play your favorite music. Then sit back, close your eyes, and let your imagination take you on a wondrous journey. Feel and explore everything your mind shows you. It’s almost like taking a mini vacation in your mind. Try it with big band or other music and let me know what your experience was like. You are welcome to leave comments on this blog. I would love to hear from you.
Until next time, take care. lw
