If I must pick a show that is my favorite today, it would be Blue Bloods. There are two things I love about the show. 1.) There is a right and wrong agenda and occasionally, there is some shades of gray you should consider.
By this, I mean, they go after the bad guy and they don’t give up until he is captured (I don’t do PC). However, there are times when someone does the right thing to protect someone even though it means breaking the law. They usually find a way to help the individual caught in this situation and you don’t feel it’s been contrived.
And 2.) the most important reason I love the show has to do with the Reagan family. I like to believe all families love and care about one another the way the Reagans do. They stick together even when they disagree. We were raised that way. No matter what we may think about one another or what we may get into a knock down drag out fight about, no one else had that right and we would always stand together against anyone after one of us. It is how I found myself in a dreaded situation one day. I may share that story one day.
I love how the Reagans get together for Sunday dinner and holidays. I love that prayer is their ritual and they give thanks to God for their blessings even when they don’t always understand why a thing happens the way it did. I love the respect they give their grandfather and great-grandfather.
It brings back memories of home, family, togetherness, God, and love I experienced as a child. It is one of the reasons I love Thanksgiving so much. It’s about family and giving thanks for all we have and just being together. This year, I had four generations of my family together for Thanksgiving. My husband, one of our sons, our grandson, and our great-grandson and we had a great time re-living yesterday memories and todays memories.
So now, you know my favorite show I watch now and why I watch so many re-runs of a simpler time. I miss when holidays were celebrated for what they stood for, not what we would receive or how much money the stores would make. Don’t get me wrong, those things existed in times past, but they didn’t control our lives the way they seem to now.
Well I must get ready for church, so I am cutting this short.
Until next time, take care. lw
