I am back for another installment. I am so enjoying responding to these challenges. This is challenge 13. You know, when I first looked at the list of challenges, I first thought this should be easy and then this is going to be so boring.
But you know what, I am not only sharing myself with you, I am learning things about myself I had forgotten. Thanks, Tim for this list.
Now to get to three things in my bucket list. I didn’t think I had anything, but after some thought, I realize I do. I just never dwelled on it because I more or less felt if it happened, good and if it didn’t, well that was life.
I realize now, I have completed many of the things I had in my bucket list. I love reading and someday I hope to be able to spend as much time as I like reading without concern for any interruptions. The top two things in my bucket list is speaking and writing. I am doing that now. I try to squeeze in reading because that has been an important part of my life since I first started reading.
There is one other thing I would like to do. I would like to visit all 50 states. However, if the opportunity should present itself, Hawaii would be the only state I would not visit. I don’t go anywhere I cannot drive to. When my son was stationed at Pearl Harbor, he offered to buy me a ticket to come over for a visit. My response was, “Baby, just as soon as they build that road between here and there, I’ll be over.” He laughed. So does everyone when they hear the story.
I don’t like vessels of any type and I don’t like flying. I have never been on a cruise, but I have flown several times for my job. The first time I flew, it was to prove to myself I was not afraid. I did not like it. Each time I fly, I am nauseous for a month or more. I do not like to fly. Period. I imagine a cruise would produce the same results. I would spend the whole trip in bed.
So, that is my three things from my bucket list. Reading, writing, and professional speaking, and if I am lucky, I’ll get to travel the country. I have already traveled through, visited, or lived in eight states. that leaves only forty-one to go.
As I said, this writing has helped me to realize some things about myself and to remember events I had forgotten.
What I have learned with this challenge is, I do have a bucket list and I will most likely add to the list. Like many, I had become complacent and accepting of what was thrown my way. No More!!! As I have chosen to go after my speaking and writing career, I will go after whatever dream comes my way. There are so many things I have an interest in doing and I believe I will be here to do them.
When next I write, I will share my favorite quote and why it is my favorite.
Until next time, take care. lw
